We’re excited to have started the New Year with a brand New Look.
And it’s more than just a new logo. We’re sharing with you a new vision for the next decade which is all about ‘ensuring the industry always does the right thing’.
It comes after an in-depth journey into understanding our identity and perceptions across the industry from our members, bed retailers and the consumer.
Our mission is about setting the standard by driving ethics, transparency and responsibility. It’s about creating a level playing field that’s fair for everyone. And we won’t rest, always working towards that goal:
- Maintaining high standards through audits and independent testing
- Teaching best practice in bed-making and selling
- Celebrating and promoting excellence
- Providing education and guidance to help people sleep better
- Creating a sustainable industry that supports the planet
And we’ve never shied away from seizing the initiative. In the mid-1980s, we developed our own flammability test before the 1988 regulations were introduced, and this went on to become BS7177. Our Code of Practice), introduced in 2013, is the only scheme in the sector which independently audits its members, and is approved by Trading Standards.
We are also taking sustainability seriously and are working with Zero Waste Scotland and the Textile Recycling Association to establish RAMR – the Register of Approved Mattress Recyclers – due to launch soon.
At the heart of everything we do is a simple idea – Making sure that, as an industry, we always do the right thing. So when you buy from an NBF Approved member, you can be sure that member has committed to high standards, ethical business practices, production efficiencies, compliance and sustainability.
Let’s make it right.
